The legend
of the cellar virgin:
One day furious farmers attacked the castle birch stone with Birkungen. All
inhabitants of the castle could escape, up to a virgin who hid with few
stocks in the cellar of the castle and waited, until the farmers had
disappeared. When they were away, a storm gathered. When the storm was past,
the cellar virgin tried to come with difficulty outward. When she had
succeeded, finally, she had a scratched face and her hands bled. She ran in
the village Birkungen to search the county family which it did not find,
however. The virgin received only the news that the knight of birch stone
has died with the battle against the farmers. It has never been told that
the cellar virgin has died. On the contrary, also younger generations they
still want to have seen and have recognised her by the carried along
brushwood broom. |
